“Shooting a mockingbird is a sin” according to the saying which refers to these small birds from the South of the United States whose sole purpose is to charm us with their song. It's attacking an innocent person, an easy prey, who only wants to live his life peacefully. Normally it is already difficult to take a few moments for yourself between your work, your relationship, your children and all the various constraints of everyday life...
After a month of confinement, having to juggle all these elements without the usual relays that we benefit from, we can quickly become overwhelmed. It is therefore normal to feel a certain fatigue and the desire to take breaks. (And I don’t even dare talk about our exceptional caregivers)

With the current period pushing us to slow down and refocus on ourselves, it is important to find the time to carry out activities that voluntarily give us a certain pleasure such as playing sports, nourishing our mind, having fun, taking care of ourselves physically and internally, or just sleep, hang out and do nothing...that's a luxury!
There are no injunctions in there but only advice to set up this time for you - me-time as the British say - if you feel the need.

So rather than always putting others before yourself, making excuses and risking burnout, here is what you can do:

We initiate a schedule, for us only, or to share with other confined people, and we note the time, even short, that we wish to allow ourselves. We organize our day around this moment rather than trying to fit it between our imperatives.

We change our usual rhythm, and we take advantage of these many free evenings that await us for another month, to dedicate them to us, just to us.

We accept not doing things perfectly and we seize the slightest opportunity to grant ourselves a little well-being without waiting for the optimal conditions to be met. (No, your boss and the children cannot disappear yet!)

And above all, we don't feel guilty, we observe the good that this break brings us in the middle of (tele)working, house maintenance... and we accept that the better we will be in our head and in our body, the more we will be able to manage other daily tasks without becoming exhausted.
